Pokey LaFarge / by Janet Eckles

I had the pleasure of shooting blues / folk musician Pokey LaFarge at Wooly's over the weekend. If you've never heard this guy before, give him a listen and you'll be transported to a bygone era. His sound is what I imagine music from the '30s was like - tastefully distorted with a mix or Americana, jazz and ragtime. He dresses the part of a Dust Bowl era gentleman (but not as dirty), with a sharp blue suit, bowtie and slicked back hair. I honestly wondered if his set would get repetitive after the first few songs, but each song was different enough from the last to sustain audience interest but not to the degree where they felt jarring. Look him up!
